Tisa
Tisa je mohutná evropská řeka, největší levý přítok Dunaje. Je 996 km dlouhá. Její povodí má rozlohu 157 200 km2.
Tisa pramení na Ukrajině ve Východních Karpatech. Její dva prameny Čornaja a Belaja Tisa sbírají vodu nejenom v ukrajinské části Východních Karpat, ale i v Rumunsku. Řeka tvoří rumunsko-ukrajinskou hranici, poté teče podél ukrajinsko-maďarských hranic a slovensko-maďarských hranic, kde se obrací k jihu. Za maďarským městem Segedín vstupuje na území Srbska, poblíž Bělehradu pak vtéká do Dunaje.
Na několik dní jsem navštívila maďarské město Segedín. Tisa tu pomalu protéká širokým písečným korytem, v její hladině se zrcadlí železný most Belváros z 19.století i vysoké věže Votivního dómu (Segedínské katedrály). Město a jeho okolí bylo od pradávna sužováno povodněmi. Největší povodeň v roce 1879 dokonce smetla celé město včetně hradu, zůstaly stát pouhé tři domy. Obyvatelé ale Segedín v krátké době obnovili a vtiskli mu ještě krásnější výstavnější tvář plnou paláců a širokých promenád. Celou pětinu obyvatel města tvoří dnes studenti Segedínské university. K dalším zajímavostem patří sirné termální prameny, které tu vyvěrají. Segedín je věhlasný svou výrobou uzenin a pěstováním paprik.
